Telangana to honor Nandamuri Balakrishna with NTR Film Award

Nandamuri Balakrishna, the celebrated Tollywood actor and politician, has been honored with the NTR National Film Award by the Telangana government. This prestigious accolade, presented as part of the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards, recognizes his significant contributions to Indian cinema. The award is named in tribute to his father, the legendary N. T. Rama Rao (NTR), who was not only a famed actor but also a former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Balakrishna’s career, lasting over fifty years, includes more than 100 films, highlighting his diverse acting abilities and dedication to his craft. His notable works, such as Samarasimha Reddy, Simha, Legend, and Akhanda, have firmly established him as a key figure in the film industry. Apart from his artistic achievements, he is also committed to philanthropy, serving as the chairman of Hyderabad’s Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital.

The NTR National Film Award is an annual honor bestowed by the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to individuals who have made exceptional lifetime contributions to Indian cinema. The award carries a cash prize of ₹500,000 along with a commemorative token of appreciation. Earlier recipients feature iconic personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Rajinikanth. Balakrishna’s receipt of this award not only celebrates his artistic legacy but also his enduring influence in the industry. In his acceptance remarks, he gratefully dedicated the honor to the Telugu film community and his family, pledging to continue striving to entertain and inspire his audience with unwavering passion.
