Superstar Mahesh Babu and acclaimed director Sukumar have warmly thanked the Telangana government for introducing the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards, a new initiative aimed at recognizing excellence in Telugu cinema. Mahesh Babu, who received accolades for his roles in Srimanthudu, Maharshi, and Major, expressed his appreciation on social media, acknowledging the honor and crediting the directors of these films for their key role in his success. Director Sukumar, the recipient of the prestigious BN Reddy Film Award, also conveyed his gratitude via Instagram, noting the deep significance of receiving an award named after the legendary filmmaker. He extended his thanks to the government, the selection jury, and the many individuals—actors, technicians, producers, and fans—who have supported his cinematic journey.
The Gaddar Telangana Film Awards, launched in 2025, are designed to celebrate remarkable achievements in the fields of Telugu film, theatre, and television. Named after the revolutionary poet and activist Gaddar, the awards recognize creative excellence and lifetime accomplishments across various disciplines. These honors are distributed in four levels—Swarnam (Gold), Rajatam (Silver), Kamsyam (Bronze), and Raagi (Copper)—and are open to works released since June 2014. This initiative reflects the Telangana government's commitment to acknowledging the vibrant artistic talent of the Telugu entertainment industry and encouraging continued cultural innovation.
