Pawan Kalyan tones down item song; Keeravani applauds stance
Pawan Kalyan calls for changing objectifying lyrics in Hari Hara Veera Mallu song, championing respectful cinema before the film’s June 2025 debut.
Ahead of the release of the Telugu historical drama Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs Spirit, actor and politician Pawan Kalyan took a noteworthy initiative to promote more respectful and conscious content in films. According to music director MM Keeravani, Kalyan insisted on modifying specific lyrics in the item number “Tara Tara,” which he considered to be objectifying. Emphasizing his accountability, Kalyan remarked, “I’m in a more responsible role now. “Please eliminate these lyrics and craft new ones.” Keeravani applauded Kalyan’s firm moral conviction, interpreting it as a true reflection of his honesty and thoughtful commitment throughout the creative process.
Set against the backdrop of the 17th-century Mughal period, Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 boasts a star-studded cast including Bobby Deol, Sathyaraj, Nidhii Agerwal, Nargis Fakhri, Nora Fatehi, Dalip Tahil, and Jisshu Sengupta. Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi alongside AM Jyothi Krishna, the production experienced multiple postponements due to the pandemic and Kalyan’s political duties. With its release now planned for June 12, 2025, the revision of the song’s lyrics highlights a growing movement within the industry toward embracing socially responsible storytelling that aligns with contemporary cultural values.
