India Reacts to Nuclear Leak Reports in Pakistan After Operation Sindoor
India urges clarity and safety after reports of nuclear leakage in Pakistan post Operation Sindoor.

Amid widespread online speculation about a potential nuclear incident in Pakistan following the high-stakes Operation Sindoor, India has firmly denied any such claims, stating that its military actions remained strictly within conventional boundaries.
On Tuesday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) dismissed the nuclear narrative as unfounded and inconsistent with statements made by Pakistan's own leadership.
Nearly 20% of Pakistan’s air force assets were reportedly destroyed in precision strikes carried out under Operation Sindoor, according to official sources. During the night of May 9–10, India launched coordinated attacks on 11 Pakistani airbases, causing extensive damage to critical air force infrastructure and killing over 50 personnel, including senior officers such as Squadron Leader Usman Yusuf at the Bholari Airbase. This marked an unprecedented military action against a nuclear-armed nation.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs also criticized Pakistan’s premature claims of victory, drawing historical parallels to previous conflicts. “Claiming victory is an old habit,” said MEA spokesperson Jaiswal. “This was seen in 1965, repeated in 1971, and again during the 1999 Kargil War. Despite facing defeats, Pakistan continues with the same rhetoric.”
Jaiswal stated that a ceasefire understanding was reached only after Pakistan’s offensive failed and India launched a powerful counter-strike on the morning of May 10. “Until the night of May 9, Pakistan was threatening a large-scale attack. But after their plans collapsed on May 10 and their airbases were severely compromised, their stance shifted dramatically,”.
Throughout the conflict, India maintained a consistent and public message that its military action was a focused response aimed solely at dismantling terrorist infrastructure in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people.
